And the silence of the shining stone
like the shattering crystal of the poet cries:
"I the enigma undefined,
the error of my age;
the players and the play defamed
that tread a timeless stage.
Ay! both hero and the rake,
of tragedy and of comic parts;
the dirge at many a wake
and the wit that veins the farce."

So cold, on so many levels, and the people that I could run to are either too far away, or gone these past 6 years. I want to go home

SOTM : Left Behind by VNV Nation

Life never changes, no matter where you go. Nothing ever changes. each sitaution is exactly the same, repeated over and over.

For those of you who know that song, nothing more needs to be said.

Forgive someone who made one bad joke. I also found the whole thing amusing, and I guess that my sense of humor is in bad taste. I promise not to make comments about things again, or to include others in them without getting written permission first.

And now, I get to trudge back out in the cold because I can no longer even handle a simple DNA extraction, and must do it over.

oy...

One long weekend without posts. Because about all I've done is work. NAU opera just ended... about 10 hours ago. I got in about 40 minutes ago. (granted some of that was due to invading Dennys and ordering breakfast with the rest of the crew...) But Lora and I were on show shift (we worked as house crew during the performance) and strike (we worked the *mandatory* striking-the-set shift afterwards.) Consequently, I am tired, filthy (I have pit grime and light grime in places where no one should have grime ~_~) tired, filthy, and I didn't get anything done, and I'm ... wait, I mentioned tired and filthy. But, although I complain, I really do love my job there, and it's a good kind of tired and filthy, the I-have-actually-accomplished-things! tired and filthy.

For those who do not speak 'theatre', let me explain. We are the crew of Ardrey Auditorium. When I say we do everything, we do everything. One signs up for various positions for various shows. House crews usually work the least during a show. We stand in the lobby, take tickets, and make sure patrons don't kill themselves or break things. Then the show starts and we sit in the lobby until it's over, pick up the house and the lobby, and go home.
Striking, on the other hand, is about the opposite extreme work-wise. You change into clothing that can only be described as indestructable, roll up your sleeves, and prepare to get filthy. For small performances, it's not so bad - put away the microphones, lock up the piano, and you're done. For shows like the opera, the set must be dismantled, hauled out, the hangings must be taken down and the normal curtains put back up, the lights must be reset (a process that involves crecent wrneches, grease, and flying heavy battens in and out (fly - theater- a system of ropes, pullys and battens from which is hung curtains, lights, etc. - to fly - to work this system))And then there's the pit. The orchestra pit. The non-hydraulic 24-section incredibly heavy awkward orchestra pit. The pit "covering" makes the apron of the stage, and that covering is taken apart and lowered to form the orchestra pit. Then it's put back. We restored the pit in five and one-half hours tonight - about average time. Thank gods I was on the light crew, and only had to re-hang and focus and crawl around the carwalks (did I mention I don't like heights?) rather that take apart that pit.

But Lora got initiated into pit crew.

But, by the time the stage is cleared, the lights rehung, the pit resotred, the shell (orchestra shell) resotred, the battens flown out, and the stage mopped, you're exhausted, dirty, and starved. And you've usually had fun.

I even managed to do homework in between acts today. Unfortunately, ::hides her face:: once again, I failed to complete the current episode summaries. or anything else. But now I have a decent paycheck ::cheers::

Of course, part of it is already spent. In four hours I become the proud owner of Shamanic Princess, which I happened to find on ebay for twenty bucks including shipping... too good to pass up. I am intrigued by the little clips of the series I've seen, and I like the artwork.

::glances at the last post:: and now I have a lot of good ideas for things to do to my physics instructor. He assigns us the exam, makes us all panic and cram and miss classes to study... and decided he doesnt feel like holding it friday, he'll give it to us next friday. ::glares::

Yes, the diamondbacks won (yea!) ... and don't worry about the pocky ::evil grin::

Cute layout. Me likes.

I have time to help this week on layout things if you want.

::glances at the clock:: ok... so I get verbose at odd hours of the morning.

::ducks:: Clawed did a bad thing. Clawed let Shadow go into Software Etc. Shadow now owns the Baldur's Gate - inspired Icewind Dale game. GM is annoyed at us now. GM will likely throw things at us for a while, lock us in a corner, and then go take over the game for herself. ::dodges a flying... thing::
on the upside, Shadow will no longer be bored....

GM has managed to resist the temptation of the copy of BlackandWhite that Bookman's has for sale... largely due to the fact that even though it's an obviously used copy, they want full retail value for it, and that is twice as much as Icewind Dale was. That and certain members (actually, a certain member) of the Gameing Group are shoving RPG books at me and saying "run this." (oh the fateful day that your truely decided to ask her friends if they would like to play a game if I ran one.... the thing is, I may not... am definitely not the best GM.... but I actually really enjoy doing it. Even when the players, as players will, decide to do the exact opposite things of what I expect them to do.) Maybe it's just because I enjoy messing with people's minds, or maybe it's because I like torture, or could be that I love to meddle... I don't know. It seems to work, and they seem to be having fun as well.. at least I hope you guys are... Anyway, this paragraph was headed for... are shoving certain books at me and saying 'run this', and I look at it and the trio of noisy characters in the back of my head all become wide-eyed and awestruck, and GM looks at them and says "we can invest money in this form of gameing or we can invest in that form of gaming (points at blackandwhite) but not both, not right now. " And they haven't made up their minds yet.

And I still have to go get sam's birthday present. (ahem.)
GM - "what do you want?"
Sam - "I dunno. how about cd's?"
GM - "ok, what cd's do you want?"
Sam - ::hands her a list:: "these"
GM - "Sam... these are all soundtracks... with multiple disks each..."
Sam - "well you only have to pick out a few..."
GM - ~_~

Kallaris, Bird, I will see the two of you in the morning... sometime... I swear, this time I will make it to egyptology! (can't guarantee I'll be conscious, but it's the thought that counts, right?)

OK, so I'm a little more than verbose. but it has been all weekend since I said anything, and I feel disconnected, and I like to go off on a good rambling nothing sometimes, and...
Clawed - ::points:: she's not even coherent anymore.
Shadow - ::giggles:: she's amusing when she's not even conscious.
Mirage - :: grabs GM:: Help me tie her up. Now we can have some fun.

GM - o.o - ::gulp::
