And the silence of the shining stone
like the shattering crystal of the poet cries:
"I the enigma undefined,
the error of my age;
the players and the play defamed
that tread a timeless stage.
Ay! both hero and the rake,
of tragedy and of comic parts;
the dirge at many a wake
and the wit that veins the farce."

*yawn* I should be sleeping. but I'm not. So I'll blog.

Not that there's much to blog. Icchan's trip was much fun. went and played with toys, and Kallaris, the Duct tape fairy, and Icchan and I hung out and stuff.

School... goes. I think I have an A in shakespere but I think I have a D in immunobiology so it almost balances in a sadistic sort of way. Ah well, I have at least two semesters left. plenty of time.

Work is... work. One of the guys I know from the Keim lab got tapped by one of the big bioresearch comapnies to do who-knows-what research. They won't tell us, only that it's a great job opportunity, but I know that he was one of the guys on the anthrax project, and so the imagination runs wild.

*sigh* all the interesting research jobs come up just after i change my mind to go into applied science.

Not that what he's doing won't be applied science... I can almost guarantee that said company is, at best, doing half research-for-research's sake. Probably something governmental and top secret.

*sigh* all the interesting projects are top-secret.
Not like we'd tell anybody... the military is so closed-minded that they don't respect the natural curiosity built into the scientists they so love to exploit... it's not like we go around and tell joe-schmuck on the street what we're up to.. most wouldn't understand it. But the free flow of information that Science needs to live on is constantly being squashed by the Big Important Military.

I think i amuse/annoy Kallaris in that respect... I find FPS and military-based games like Half-life fun, but also amusing, in that in every military-type game, where you play a high-powered, super-equipped, damn-near-invulnerable Cool Guy, the scientists who built/designed the Big Point Of The Game are always weak, wimpy support personnel who couldn't hold their own even if they tried.

and then there's the fact that none of those scientists are allowed freedom within their work... they're expected to comply with schedules and budgets and time tables and the Big Guy In Charge (who usually can't spell science, he;s so far removed from the field) and are micromanaged by people who have no understanding of the workings of the process of research and then insist that the information and technology is Exclusively Theirs, no matter what other kinds of applications there might be for such technolgy.

Clawed: *Hauls gm off her soapbox* That's enough, dear. you need sleep now. *hands her over to shadow* That's all there is to see here, move along, I promise this won't happen again.
